The IEEE PES Substations Committee is the professional home for engineers involved in the design and operation of electrical substations used for generation, transmission and distribution. Moreover, committee activities include development of not only industry standards, but also educational material, for instance, technical papers, white papers, presentations, tutorials and panel discussions . Accordingly, the Committee is under the direction of the IEEE Power & Energy Society Technical Council.

Participation in the IEEE PES Substations Committee provides a unique opportunity for participants to not only drive the development of standards, but also share knowledge and expertise through the exchange of views, information and practices. The IEEE PES Substations Committee continually accepts new members from all countries. To participate, survey the Working Groups and Standards, create a 123Signup profile, contact an Officer and ultimately attend a meeting.

It is understood that securing funding to attend a meeting can be difficult, especially for young professionals and experienced contributors that find themselves in a work transition. To help bridge the funding gap, the Substations Committee has developed a Financial Assistance program. See that page for more information regarding the purpose, process and guidelines for acceptance.

IEEE membership is not required to participate in standards development, though it is to be an officer or to ballot on a standard. To join the IEEE, PES and Standards Association, click here.
